Odd things you see on Hulu.
I just saw a clip of a fire acrobat on "America's Got Talent", named Simon Chaban. I used to play with him at San Francisco Taiko Dojo. How funny. Haha! | | 10:23 am |

Aiee! *CRASH* *thud* Tah-dah! goes the mckitterick. (He does all his own stunts.) Running out the door so I don't have a lot of time to post. Just got a call from kijjohnson that mckitterick was in a moderately bang-up scooter accident. I guess some college kid pulled out in front of him and he laid it down rather than do an imitation of Superman over the hood. Went to the ER, possible shoulder/collarbone damage and a few Rocky Balboa ribs, but he is headed back home and for the moment "ok". If you're in the Lawrence area you might wanna give him a ring and tell him you're glad he's ok. | | Tuesday, July 14th, 2009 | | 7:42 am |
As I watch the Sotomayor hearings:
Me: Jeff Sessions is a uber-dickhead, what a whiny little fuck Friend: well, he's a racist who doesn't mind being racist in broad daylight now It's amazing how much insane grandstanding is going on here from the right. The butthurt knows no bounds considering how absolutely *offended* they were when they brought Roberts and Alito up for the same process and anyone dare question them. And yes, Jeff Sessions is a dick. | | Monday, July 6th, 2009 | | 7:12 pm |

Iran Update: Ahmadinejad calls for investigation into Neda's death.
In the "day late, dollar short" department, Ahmadinejad has called for an investigation into the death of Neda Agha-Soltan. Of course this is seen as two things by most: a) an attempt to discredit the accounts of what happened, that she was shot by a Basij militiaman on a nearby rooftop or b) a way to trot some poor SOB out to take the fall in a vain attempt to assuage the massive outporing of anger and galvanizing of the opposition. Already the government and Ahmadinejad have said the death is "suspicious" because they claim the bullet used to kill her was not one used by security forces in Iran. This is of course a not so subtle way of blaming it on internal "terrorist" groups or "meddling" external forces (ie. Britain, US, Israel). While the revolt within Iran has been pushed off the front page by things such as Mark Sanford, Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett, it still carries on every day. The government continues to attempt to ratchet down on communication lines and any flow of information that could show what is going on in the counry for real. Protests that are in the thousands are reported on state-run media as hundreds. Bloody breakups are said to have been "peaceful dispersements". Just because it's not on the front page of your local paper or the running story on whatever media outlet you choose does not mean it's not happening. Don't let the conditioned ADD attention span of the media public take it out of your head. Freedom for Iran. | | Thursday, June 25th, 2009 | | 4:57 pm |
James Brown is dead...
...and now so is Michael Jackson. Didn't expect cardiac arrest, it will be interesting to see what the autopsy report has to say. | | 10:59 am |
Iran Update: The protest cycle
Even though Iran has not been the OMG issue for the mainstream media, the protests and bloodshed go on. The rolling "Tatsuma Update" found here: https://sites.google.com/site/tatsumairanupdate/ is still a good source of update. Expect things to really heat up in a few days as we approach the seventh day following the death of Neda Soltan, and then again on the 40th day as these are traditional times of Persian mourning. If anyone here remembers (I was but a wee lad) the same cycle happened with the protests of the Shah in 79. Something tragic happens then you got the 7/40 cycle. Jon Stewart actually had a very good interview with Reza Aslan about things in Iran and how Iranians there and abroad are glad Obama is not charging off at the mouth like the GOP are all whining about. Sometimes "We just need to shut up." was an excellent point. It's been a busy week for me away from the computer hence the lack of real hard updates. I'll get back into it as the weekend cycle rolls in. Freedom for Iran. There is no other option. | | 10:58 am |

Iran bans supportive footballers for life. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/jun/23/iran-football-protest-ban?stupidTheir gesture attracted worldwide comment and drew the attention of football fans to Iran's political turmoil. Now the country's authorities have taken revenge by imposing life bans on players who sported green wristbands in a recent World Cup match in protest against Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's disputed re-election.
According to the pro-government newspaper Iran, four players – Ali Karimi, 31, Mehdi Mahdavikia, 32, Hosein Ka'abi, 24 and Vahid Hashemian, 32 – have been "retired" from the sport after their gesture in last Wednesday's match against South Korea in Seoul.
They were among six players who took to the field wearing wristbands in the colour of the defeated opposition candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi, which has been adopted by demonstrators who believe the 12 June election was stolen.Try try try as they will the government cannot stop the change that has started. They can try to silence, ban, beat and shoot everyone but it will not keep people down. Freedom for Iran. | | Saturday, June 20th, 2009 | | 7:52 pm |

Iran Update
It's getting very violent, very bloody and frankly just overwhelming in my head. Haven't heard from any of the realitives for a while, but I hope they are staying the hell off the streets. I think I'm going to step out for a bit. CNN has a decent live feed now if you can parse through their usual bullshit. Also bellacrow has a good update stream going. Me? I need a walk. | | Friday, June 19th, 2009 | | 9:33 am |

UPDATE - Khameni Speech (or Non-Speech) Reaction
I'm very angry right now. So gobsmacked that Khameni took a chance to actually do something right and used it to give the same tired, ignorant, bullshit rhetoric speech that must have been dusted off from the Khomeni days. Khameni has called the protesters essentially traitors and passionately defended the elections saying that the margin was SO wide "How could you possibly have *that* much fraud?". I woke up, read the news and promptly wanted to throw up. What happens now? Who knows. I'm sure the Basiji will be empowered to beat whomever they want now, and given all the rural Ahmadinejad supporters they bused in to Tehran to shore up the crowds at the prayers there is sure to be a clash into the night and possibly through the weekend. There was a chance for wisdom and peace here, and now it has been squandered by a bitter, outdated old man, desperate to cling to the power he sees slipping away from him like sand. Freedom for Iran. No price is too high. | | Thursday, June 18th, 2009 | | 9:34 pm |
Iran Election Twitter Grid and Update:
UPDATE- Statements attirbuted to Mousavi and Kharoubi websites earlier regarding a call to avoid the prayers led by Ayatollah Khamenei are seen as more than likely fraudulent as both sites are believed to be hacked. Thanks to bellacrow for the clarification. I've been unable to really get at my normal sources tonight. You can find the twitters of the leading confirmed sources all at once below: Iran Elections Twitter Grid | | 11:37 am |
Slow today
Was at work till nearly midnight. Been up late keeping up on the "daytime" stuff in Iran. Keep up with the link in my last post, it's the latest and greatest. I'm going to be in and out most of the day. And please, spread the word. Tell your friends lists. The American media is falling down on this so much and it's so important for everyone. | | 8:21 am |
Iran Chronology: Updated Daily A lot happened today, and can be found under the header "18th of June". The most important information to know is still the very worrying report that Supreme Leader Khameini has called for Friday Prayers where he will be present. There are fears that the IRG is going to have a massive presence and that this might be a trap, but on the other hand not attending makes the reformists enemies of Islam and worthy of the death penalty. Iranian prosecutors have also warned protesters that violence might be punished with the death penalty, according to Reuters. Supporters of Khameini are expected to flood Tehran from all corners of Iran on Friday, so big clashes are expected. I really am trying to cram the most relevant information and speculation only. Everything is updated as events unfold, especially the timeline and what will happen in the future. If you want to link this, here is the website, updated as the situation changes: https://sites.google.com/site/tatsumairanupdate/( Updated Chronology Here: Cut for Friends Pages... ) | | Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 | | 1:13 pm |
